SONG FROM THE HALFWAY HOUSE
Song from the Halfway House is a collection of photo-haiku, drawing its material from the South Wales Valley and the holy lands of Israel and Palestine. The individual poems in the collection have been previously published in various national and international haiku journals and anthologies, but are unpublished as a sequence.
The work is an account of spiritual struggle from darkness towards some measure of light. Throughout, the themes of life, death and resurrection occur and reoccur, in such guises as the rock of Calvary or a fly-tipped mattress; a dead tree or the River of Jordan; an urban building site or the Pool of Siloam.
